Empowering Support When You Need It Most

At Alexandra | Behavior & Advocacy, we provide essential support and practical resources for parents, BCBA candidates, and individuals navigating the IEP process. Our services are designed to bridge gaps in care, education, and access—especially for families who are waiting for ABA services or need guidance beyond traditional models.

We partner with families to address behavior challenges through individualized parent training, collaborative problem-solving, and evidence-based strategies that can be implemented in everyday life. For students with special education needs, we offer IEP advocacy and consultation to help families feel confident, informed, and supported during meetings and decision-making.

In addition, we support aspiring and early-career BCBAs through mentorship, supervision, and professional guidance rooted in ethical, real-world practice. Whether you are a parent seeking immediate support, a professional building your career, or a family navigating complex challenges, our goal is to provide timely, personalized services that empower growth, promote independence, and create meaningful change.

About

Alexandra Schmidt, M.Ed, BCBA, LBA

My passion for supporting children with special needs began when I entered the field at just 17 years old. Since then, I have built a career rooted in advocacy, collaboration, and meaningful change for families. With experience as both a former special education teacher and a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA), I bring a unique, comprehensive perspective to the work I do with children and their caregivers.

After working within traditional, insurance-based models, I recognized the need for more personalized, family-centered support—services that extend beyond therapy hours and empower parents as active partners. My work focuses on parent training, applied behavior analysis (ABA), and navigating educational challenges so families feel informed, confident, and supported.

I am committed to providing practical, individualized strategies tailored to each child’s unique needs. In addition to working directly with families, I am passionate about mentoring and training future and current BCBAs, helping to shape ethical, compassionate practitioners who prioritize quality care.

At the heart of my work is a belief that meaningful progress happens through collaboration, advocacy, and consistency—and that every family deserves access to thoughtful, individualized support.

Alexandra was with me every step of the IEP process by going through my child's previous IEP to ensuring that services were being delivered and selected appropriately. She advocated for my child in ways I could not do on my own. Thank you! -SM
